La Penultimate

I missed this one on Saturday, what with working till lunch time and trying to get more than 4 hours sleep.

First things first I had to break the legs off as they had been glued in place and then I found that this wasn't the first time these legs had been glued in place, and it wasn't on this body.

A fun couple of hours with files, I had both legs looking usable.

This didn't quite go as planned as I broke one leg off and ended up having to magnetise the leg and used first glue then green stuff to get the leg in place.

I started the hull by breaking the guns off, then I added some magnets and green stuff to the lower arms and added some all arms to those 2.

While I waited for the green stuff to cure I played around with weapon arms. Looking at this I'm thinking I might need to buy another chaos helbrute to give it a balanced look with some of the old missile launcher or 2 mounted on the hand.

UPGRADING THE MECHANICUS

You might have noticed that we have more than a few upgrades available on the Forge World web store. There are heads, torsos and shoulder pads for every Legion; heavy and special weapons for Space Marines; weapons for Eldar and Tyranids; upgrade sets for Astra Militarum; doors and turrets for vehicles of all types; and plenty more.

One army we’ve not designed any upgrades for is the Adeptus Mechanicus. That is, until now. Check out what’s coming soon from Forge World Studio…

These upgrades for the Adeptus Mechanicus Skitarii Rangers can’t be far away from production, so make sure you’re signed up to the Forge World Newsletter for all the latest news.

That’s all from me for now. Make sure you check back soon for more from the Forge World Studio.

Open To Suggestions.

After getting this chap finished,

I was looking at this line up

And thinking the only type not in the line up, or not yet anyway as it's back at Herme's north west warehouse, is the old metal Venerable Dread,

So question I am asking is should I get my hands on another of those dreads and chaos it up and paint it to match?

Dreadnought Master Achievement Unlocked

After the post about my Dreadnoughts I realised that I was missing one, so I bought it.

Gave it a base coat of ushabati bone.

Then the bits I wasn't doing in colour I painted dark grey and gave that a nuln oil wash then a grey dry brush.

Doesn’t show to well on here, but I mixed some screaming skull into the grey for edge highlights.

Then gave the yellow bits a light coat of flash git yellow, more than a dry brush but less than a full coat of paint.

Did some detailing on the hull.

Then went over the flash git yellow with Yeril yellow to give it an orange hue.

Spot more detailing.

The finished article.

Painted 2nd Edition Chaos Dreadnought

I know I was leaving this guy till I'd gone down to Warhammer World on the 9th, but I rather like how he looks. Painted to match the other Chaos Dreads, next photo will be the family tree.

Exodites Guardians

Fecking hell I've actually got everything done! Need to do some more buying...

40 Guardians, a mix of some old plastic, older metal and new plastic. I also green stuffed cloaks on 4 of them, with the idea of using the snow powder on them at some point.

I gave them an oxide wash and a white dry brush, each of the 4 squads of 10 has the weapon washed a different colour, as are the eye lenses, so I can see the various squads.

And the 4 different old metal pre Aspect Shuriken Guardians.

Filled Out The Chaos Family Tree

When I finished the Space Crusade Chaos Dreadnought last month I liked how it looked. I did want to do the 4 armed variety so kept an eye out on ebay for one, and after checking my bank today I picked one up; minor issue is it's on it's way from France.

So tonight I dug out the left overs from the Chaos helbrute kit to see where I can go with this. I have the Missile launcher, left hammer arm and right power fist, I also found the spare las cannons from my Razorback kit.
I cut the cannons down so they would fit onto the back of the hand

I also added lots of green stuff to the arm and added some of the spare armour plates to cover that up as much as possible.

Now I just have to wait for the Dread to arrive and get to work on it.

2nd Ed Metal Chaos Dreadnought

I wasted some cash on this guy as I wanted to get one of each chaos dread in the same colours.

I started by giving it the usual ushabati bone base coat, before 2 washes with the sepia wash.

And filling in some of the panel gaps you get with old lead minis.

I do like that face.

And now just have to touch up the black and wait for the 60mm base I bought for it to arrive.
Next photo of this family tree will be down at Warhammer World with all of them out there on one of GW's big tables.

Proxy Takes A Road Trip

Might not have actually done anything miniature wise beyond buying this guy

This week, which I'm planning on painting up in the Chaos Dreadnoughts colours of black and bone with some red so I have all of them in one colour scheme bar the long legged , 4 armed Space Crusade Dread... I'm also watching a metal Ultra dread on ebay as well, but that isn't what I'm posting about tonight, Tuesday morning I booked a table at Warhammer World for the 9th of July, going down there with 5 guys from Preston. I'm planning on taking my DA Successor Chapter The Lion's Blades, mostly to get my Oldhammer stuff photoed on their, frankly stunning, tables. Although I'm taking The Lion's Blades I aim to get 40 Guardians painted up for my Exodite Army before then.

Monthly Vow 12th of June To The 12th of July

That was a long month! The last 5 weeks have felt more like 7.
So my monthly update, what haveI missed this month? I didn't do any of the bases I said I was going to do, but that was it, everything else got done and more.

I started off with some Harlequins, these 3 have replaced 3 of the plastic DE Wytches.

I then did the BaC Contemptor and repaired my 2 Forge World Contemptors and while the plastic version is a nice kit I prefer the resin one.

About this time I found a cheap, boxed, new Chaos Helbrute and bought that as well.

I ended up painting it in the same colours as the original Chaos Chuck and rather liked the look of it, which lead me to repaint the Dark Vengeance chaos Helbrute as well.

And also doing the last of the workable Space Crusade Dreads in a Chaos feel.

And a Chaos Dreadnought / Helbrute family portrait.

Next up was more Harlequins.

I'd got my hands on the Jet Bike and set about turning it into a Skyweaver, I just wish I hadn't lost the handle bars...

This was the only one of the Jess Goodwin era Harlequins that I was missing when I went through the army bit as it came in a lot of 7 I swopped out some more of the plastic DE Wytches for these guys.

And I also did the spare Death Jester

Alongside 15 big guns for the Knights of Blood

This one is a Sgt, it was once one of my chop shop Terminators but didn't make the grade last month, and as it was armless I pulled up a plasma pistol arm that was already a conversion and added magnets for the other arm.

5 missile launchers, 5 las cannons and 5 Heavy Bolters at the back.

And on to next month, well the basing still needs to be done as does the work on the Proxy Banesword, I'm looking at buying the one metal dread I haven't got yet and possibly another of the early metal Chaos Caseterferrum to paint up in the same style as the others so the family tree are all the same colours, (which kind of means finding 2 more Space Crusade Dreads as well... ), but by and large I think most of the month will be painting Knights of Blood Marines and Guardians for Telvig and maybe, just maybe those 3 Vorax I have sitting on top of my fridge freezer in bags waiting to be assembled.
