Y Geiriadur

Bad news out of the way and on with Y Geiriadur ( The Unhallowed). These are my Fallen Angel Army my first Chaos Army from the new Codex. First up is the full army in the box I've currently got ready to roll, 3 squads of 10 PDF troopers, 2 Squads each of 4 bikers, 1 squad of Havocs with 4 Autocannons, a standard Marine Squad as I don't want this army to be too Chaosy, a squad of gun slinger Chosen, 2 Mordor Trolls that I'm currently working on making into Mutilators as I don't like the GW models ( if anyone asks they where one of those accidents that happend in geneseed implantation, but rather than put them down Luther inducted them and trained them up for a close assault roll. I will of course be adding massive amounts of green stuff to these to get them to pass muster as Space Marines that something went wrong with). And lastly my Fallen Angel Lord, not got a name yet but it will be something in either Welsh or one of Fallen Angel names, just spent a few minutes on an Angel Demon name generator and have decided to go with Saeh. For his war gear he has a combi plasma, a power weapon and I've given him a Combat Fimillar that is one of the Watchers in the Dark.
I'm also going to make a couple of Obliterators as well and was planning opn using Ogres or possibly Imperial Guard Ogryns but they are much, much smaller than the Trolls I'm already using so I guess I'm just going to have to blag some reason as to why they are smaller than their "cousins".

Weekends WIP

So I've been promising myself that I'd get this unit upgraded from Power Armour, on the right, to the robed Veterans on the left. This is their reward for holding up a squad of Genestealers for 3 turns in close combat. Since that game I've picked up some of the Tomb King bits (I really like the swords in that army) and in there alongside all the other skele bits where 5 shields which I've given to this squad and are counts as Storm Shields when points costs allows, otherwise are just there for decoration. As most of the arms where only blu taced on this was a really easy job to get started on, the only hard work was getting the arms off the robed Marines, which wasn't that hard and swopping them and a couple of heads over. At the same time as this I was rooting out some plasma pistols as I'm planning on makeing the Power Armour unit into a Chosen Squad for my Fallen Angel Army. I've already made a start on this by swopping out khorne shoulder pads and arms for more Ravenwing ones and digging out some Autocannons, I've also gone into the box with The Glourios 1000 in and co-opted one of there Heavy Bloter Marines to make a 4th for that squad. The others are coming from the 8th assault Company and the spare squad I have knocking around to make up the 5 Marine Havoc Squad. I've got 30 Guard sorted out and I've got my Lord model for this army roughed up and I'm thinking of adding a Tactical Sqaud into the Troops section, just to give it some bite/backbone. And I might just use the model that was going to be for my 5th Company Chaplin as a Dark Apostel to give the PDF some more backbone. Also over the weekend I bought 2 of the Mordor Trolls off ebay as they will be forming the base of my Mutilator and Obliterator. I know one of these is on it's way to me now, the other I'm expecting to be posted later today. I am still looking for a couple of Ogres to padd those 2 sections of my army out as I just can't like the kits the GW have brought out fot those models. All in this army only comes to 2,600 someting points and as it stands now, 1 HQ, 3 Troops and 2 Fast Attacks it's still less than 1,00 points. Also looking at a flyer to use as a Helldrake but that is not going to come cheaply.

I'm not too sure how often I'm going to do these posts but as I've not really done anything for a few weeks now apart from starting rebuilding my Veterans for the 3rd Company and I've not got anything new to post I'm going to show off some of the older stuff from my Facebook page. Going to start with my favourite topic with 32 poats already; Dreads
For size Contemptor next to a standard box dread
For size, this is the Contemptor next to a Venerable Dreadnought
For size the Contemptor next to a Blackreach Dread
Contemptor, Tartarous pattern Terminator and my Assault Company Champion
Out the back in the snow. The old and the new Contemptors
And the Contemptor pluping a Zoanthrope in close combat

2nd Chaos Army

Yeah I'm saying that the Fallen army is going to be my 2nd Chaos army after the Chaos Androids but it's already looking like I'm starting to buy stuff for this one already... Will be going through my spare marines looking for something I can use as a Lord and have 19 Guard coming shortly with several more squads on watch on ebay and I'm looking at converting a Contermptor into something that can pass off as a Defiler, and I'm totting up prices on Forge World and other places for the other bits and pieces I'd need to make a go of this army. I don't expect to win many games with them to start with, but then again I've never worried about the win-draw-loose part of the game I'd rather have a good night than win at any cost. And a good image for a Dark Angel player

Plans For a 2nd Chaos Army, already

Okay so appointment booked with the Interrigator Chaplin, I also picked up the Chaos Marine Codex off of ebay at the same time as I got the Tau Codex, and that arrived at the weekend. One of the first things I did with it was to run up a list for a Fallen Angel and his duped PDF minions. Chaos Lord and a Dark Apostle as a Captain and a "Lutheran" Chaplin (might just be going to hell for that on in more way than one). For Elites I went with 3 Mutilators and was thinking of making them from Ogres I have been checking out the Blood Bowl Ogre team, Star Player and Ninja Man Eater for conversion potenial, a Chosen squad that I'm going to make robed and some Terminators, possibly the next Forge World version to come out I think. For Troops I'm planning on going with 6 Cultist Squads, 4 Squads with Autoguns and 2 Squads with pistols and ccw. These will be PDF Troopers duped into service of the Fallen Angel. Strating off with 10 man sqauds but will expand that at some later date. Fast Attack was 2 bike squads with a Warp Talon Squad, to fit in with the lost in the Warp thing, after talking to my mates about this I'm dropping the Warp Talons and am taking a flyer that I'll use as a counts as Helldrake was thinking of getting one of the Forge World Avengers for this. And for Heavy Support was thing thinking of 3 Oblitartors again made from Ogres, an Autocannon squad and a Defiler that I'm planning to make out of a Contemptor Dreadnought. A lot of this army will be from Forge World and it won't be started any time soon as I want to get my Chaos Android/Cylon Army started after my Eldar and all those are on hold till I get the house done anyway. Input is as always welcome.

Current WIP

Yes well I've long talked about having to do this and now I've made a start on it, walls and celling filled and sanded, wood work cleaned now just need to find a new light fixture I like and then I'm good to go with this room. And as this is meant ot be a 40K blog and not changing rooms.
This is what I'm reading when I'm done, just waiting for the new Tau Codex to land so I can have a nosey at that as well.
Did get a game in the other day and there was an interesting point that came up, I was playing my Dark Angels Successor and was fighting along side Tau who had Dark Angel allies. We where arguing that as I was DA and the Tau where allied with DA could we not have his Terminators home in on my bikes Teleport homers and say that they are my Terminator Support. Whats your point of view on this one.

Sad News For Me

I'm a massive fan of Iain (M) Banks books, both the Sci-Fi and the fiction and the news this week that he has late stage cancer and is unlikely to see Hogmany this year has left me feeling a little down. I've had a couple of my books signed by TMH over the years and I've always found him to be an overall nice guy when he's been working a room, and the one time, pictured below, while at Eastercon in Glasgow a group of us fan men (not a chance of calling us boys really) actually met TMH he sat with us and chatted away for an hour, bought us all a pint, in his words "the least I can after you've all bought my books", and we had a fight over who got to keep the order he took to the bar. In the photo, from the front, is TMH Iain M Banks, myself, Paul Graham Raven, David Dave H Haddock, and Reg Holbein, our other member present ducked out of site when this was taken and I can't remember his name now, sadly. I always wanted to complete my collection of authors that I really like, and it looks like I'll be getting the chance now, but not in the way I'd of wanted. From the BBC web site
3 April 2013 Last updated at 12:31 Iain Banks statement in full Continue reading the main story Related Stories * Author Banks has terminal cancer Scottish author Iain Banks has revealed that he is dying of gall bladder cancer. Here is the full statement which has has been posted on his website. "I am officially Very Poorly. After a couple of surgical procedures, I am gradually recovering from jaundice caused by a blocked bile duct, but that - it turns out - is the least of my problems. "I first thought something might be wrong when I developed a sore back in late January, but put this down to the fact I'd started writing at the beginning of the month and so was crouched over a keyboard all day. When it hadn't gone away by mid-February, I went to my GP, who spotted that I had jaundice. Blood tests, an ultrasound scan and then a CT scan revealed the full extent of the grisly truth by the start of March. "I have cancer. It started in my gall bladder, has infected both lobes of my liver and probably also my pancreas and some lymph nodes, plus one tumour is massed around a group of major blood vessels in the same volume, effectively ruling out any chance of surgery to remove the tumours either in the short or long term. "The bottom line, now, I'm afraid, is that as a late stage gall bladder cancer patient, I'm expected to live for 'several months' and it's extremely unlikely I'll live beyond a year. So it looks like my latest novel, The Quarry, will be my last. "As a result, I've withdrawn from all planned public engagements and I've asked my partner Adele if she will do me the honour of becoming my widow (sorry - but we find ghoulish humour helps). By the time this goes out we'll be married and on a short honeymoon. We intend to spend however much quality time I have left seeing friends and relations and visiting places that have meant a lot to us. Meanwhile my heroic publishers are doing all they can to bring the publication date of my new novel forward by as much as four months, to give me a better chance of being around when it hits the shelves. "There is a possibility that it might be worth undergoing a course of chemotherapy to extend the amount of time available. However that is still something we're balancing the pros and cons of, and anyway it is out of the question until my jaundice has further and significantly, reduced. "Lastly, I'd like to add that from my GP onwards, the professionalism of the medics involved - and the speed with which the resources of the NHS in Scotland have been deployed - has been exemplary, and the standard of care deeply impressive. We're all just sorry the outcome hasn't been more cheerful. "A website is being set up where friends, family and fans can leave messages for me and check on my progress. It should be up and running during this week and a link to it will be here on my official website as soon as it's ready." Iain Banks
With Terry Prattchet ill and Banks not expected to last the year out I'd just like to say I'm a massive fan of Dan Brown, Stephine Mayer and the one who got the monkeys trained to knock out 50 Shades of Grey.
